Family Beach Day - Spring Break Edition

The days are starting to get longer, and warmer weather will be here soon. And in our heads, warm weather = beach. It's not too early to start dreaming about a spring break vacation. If the sand and water call to you, here is a list of beaches sprinkled full of family-fun elements.

Beach 1: Rehoboth Beach, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Rehoboth Beach is a small beach town in Delaware with several family-friendly places. Depending on the day, getting in the water may be a little chilly, but it is still a beautiful place to stroll along the beach or relax on a towel to watch the waves. Explore the boardwalk, funky shops, various restaurants, and unique hotels. There are even occasional free concerts. The Rehoboth Beach Museum and Cape Henlopen State Park are fun places to visit. The museum shows the town's history through vintage postcards and yearbooks, and the park has sand dunes and an observation tower.

Beach 2: Smathers Beach, Key West, Florida

Florida has many remarkable beaches, but Smathers Beach in the Keys is a top one. The half-mile-long beach has surfing, jetski rentals, volleyball, and a boardwalk to walk, roller skate, or bike down. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, and food trucks nearby on Duval Street. Key West has a slow-paced vibe, endless Key Lime goodies, and never runs short on sunshine and entertainment.

Sauvie Island

Beach 3: Collins Beach, Sauvie Island, Portland, Oregon

Collins Beach is on the Columbia River in Portland, Oregon. The beach is a long, narrow, one-mile stretch with a sandy shore. Hiking the nearby trails, picking berries at nearby farms, and flowers blooming. Bring your beach ball, football, frisbee, kids, and dog on a leash. After time at the river, you can cross the state line into Washington or head south into Portland for some more sightseeing.

long beach

Beach 4: Alamitos Bay Beach, Long Beach, California

Long Beach city and its beaches are both welcoming and diverse. Alamitos Bay Beach has many activities, like paddleboarding, kayaking, kitesurfing, and volleyball. Because of its shielded location in the bay, it doesn't have the notoriously huge Pacific Ocean waves. You can find lots of shopping, coffee shops, restaurants, and street art not far from the beach. And there's a dog beach nearby if your furry friend is joining.

Grab your favorite oversized beach towels and colorful sun umbrella, throw on your favorite swimwear, and let's go to the beach!
